I f you ask me atheist and agnostic need to stick together.  I believe most agnostics are closer to atheist than atheist realize.  I consider myself an agnostic, but I certainly side with the atheist.  It's a common misunderstanding that agnostics are 50/50 on god's existence.  I personally don't think that's the case.  I think most agnostics are like me and probably more like 80/20 siding with atheism.  The only difference between the two is agnostics think although it's extremely unlikely, still possible.  We still fight for many of the same causes.

I do not want my children taught about the Spagetti Monster.  I'd prefer when my kids sit down to eat their dinner that they give thanks to mommy and daddy for busting our butts for 50 hours this week in order to provide that meal, and not an imaginary man in the clouds.  And I would prefer my children take responsibility for their own actions and not expect some entity to look over them, and take care of them.

The bottom line here is that both atheist and agnostics fight for the right to live their lives the way they chose.  And being a vast minority, it would be in both parties interest to subdue the minor differences in beliefs in order to acheive our common goal.

Final thought:  Most "religious" folk don't know or understand the difference between the two, and consider us both devil worshipers anyway.  I personally am tired of gettting dirty looks from neighbors and family members for pronouncing my lack of superstition.  and this will never change unless we ban together to stand up for our rights as humans.  Too many of us go through life biting our tounges.  It a hard life and tough world.  Let's support each other on this one!

I live in canada and where I live religion seems a lot less important then in America. Here I have never had dirty for being open Atheist, but it also helps that I have been raised Atheist all my family is Atheist or agnostic even my grandparents so I do not have to deal with being pushed away from family due to that I am a Atheist. Must be hard for anyone to have family do this though and I find it a bit disgusting when lots of religion is suppose to be based on *forgiveness*.

And yes I think Atheist and Agnostics should stick together like pea's in a pod.

I believe that the enlightened are agnostic because they conclude that the more they know the more they realize that they do not know. There is a lot of knowing in realizing how little even the greatest thinkers know. Both theism and atheism are unprovable, and thus the only logical conclusion is agnosticism.  The truth is unknown and unknowable.
